In this talk, lesbian fashion historian Eleanor Medhurst will cover a number of 'stories' within lesbian fashion's history, including the clothes worn by Anne Lister, the significance of cross-dressing on stage, modernist lesbian fashion in the 1920s, butch and femme, and lesbian activist clothing of the late twentieth century. She will also discuss her experience focusing on a highly underrepresented academic subject such as lesbian fashion. A brief discussion and a Q&A session will follow the talk.
