Calling all parents, educators, administrators and support staff 🗣
Please join us on August 7 at Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse for an important conversation about how food insecurity is impacting students, educators, and the future of our communities. Without consistent access to nutritious meals, children face more than just hunger; they face a lifetime of obstacles.
Opening remarks will be given by U.S. Congresswoman, Kansas 3rd District Sharice Davids, our moderator is Carolina Cruz of KCTV5 and our panelists include:
- Emily Hathaway, teacher at Whittier Elementary School
- Charlesetta Jackson, community resource specialist at New Chelsea Elementary
- Grace Liss, director of food services for Shawnee Mission School District
- Amanda Jahnke, president of Hands to Hearts KC
- Blanca Villa, mental health liaison at Guadalupe Centers
This event is free, and it also doubles as a food drive. 🍇🥜 We encourage attendees to bring nonperishable items for school lunches such as:
- Nut butters
- Jelly (no glass jars)
- Fruit cups
- Shelf-stable milks
- Granola bars
- Pudding cups
- Chicken/tuna salad kits
