What is this game like?
Dolmenwood is a fresh take on mythic forest fantasy – a rich rpg setting, ripe for exploration. Characters traverse the wilderness, discover settlements, delve dungeons, and encounter the denizens of the wood - all while seeking for treasure and adventure! Creativity, curiousity, problem solving, and player agency are core to the game.
Who Should Attend?
New and experienced players are equally welcome. Recommended for ages 16+.
What to Expect
Players chart the course for each session, exploring the open world on their own terms.
New players can create a character at the start of the session or use a pre-generated character.
Character death is more common in this type of game. Ask questions, leverage advantages, and find clever solutions to help your character survive.
The “open table” format means you can try the game once to see if you like it, play occasionally as your schedule allows, or sign up for every single session – whatever fits your interest and schedule.
What Should I Bring?
Players usually bring a pencil, notebook, and a set of polyhedral dice.
Can I Create a Character Ahead of Time?
You certainly don’t have to. But if you want to, use these character creation rules, with these restrictions:
Kindred Options: Breggle, Human, Mossling, Woodgrue (no Elves or Grimalkin)
Class Options: any except Enchanter
Optional Rules we use:
Sub-Par Characters: 8 or less in every Ability Score or a 6 or lower in more than one Ability Score? You may discard the character and start again.
Re-Rolling 1s and 2s: At level 1, if you roll 1 or 2 HP (before applying the Constitution Modifier), re-roll your HP.
Customizing Bard/Hunter/Thief Skills: See class descriptions for details.
Moon Signs: This rule is not on the website yet, so ask the GM to roll for a “moon sign” at the start of the session.
