About the Hosts
Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE)
Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and under represented groups in the energy sector. Our mission is to advance the role and recognition of women and under represented groups in the energy sector, while supporting energy initiatives and projects that improve the quality of life for all. With over 150+ volunteers worldwide, WiRE's influence is more than just its magnitude, fueled by the passion of each individual. This dedicated network forms the very heart of the organization.
WaterPower Canada (WPC)
Founded in 1998, WaterPower Canada (WPC) is the national voice of Canada’s waterpower industry. As a not-for-profit trade association, WPC represents members across the sector, including hydropower producers, manufacturers, and developers, who collectively account for over 95% of Canada’s waterpower capacity. Generating over 60% of Canada’s electricity, waterpower positions the nation as the world’s fourth-largest hydropower producer and supports one of the cleanest electricity grids globally. WPC advocates for the sustainable development and use of waterpower to meet Canada’s current and future energy needs.
Ontario Power Generation (OPG)
As Ontario’s largest clean power generator, OPG operates one of North America’s most diverse generating fleets. The company is advancing several clean energy innovations, including Small Modular Reactors, low-carbon hydrogen, and energy storage, to drive an electrified future where more aspects of life—from transportation to homes and industries—are powered by clean electricity. In Ontario, OPG’s fleet includes two nuclear stations, 66 hydroelectric stations, two thermal generating stations, one solar facility, and four combined-cycle gas generating stations operated by its subsidiary, Atura Power. OPG also owns two nuclear generating stations in Ontario, leased long-term to Bruce Power L.P. Internationally, its U.S. subsidiary, Eagle Creek Renewable Energy, owns and operates 85 hydroelectric stations across 18 states.
