Touch Designer Club

Blob Tracking jam session! This is a collaborative, focused work session for people who have experience with TouchDesigner and want to co-work out the kinks. We'll provide a starting file to get things rolling. Before the event keep an eye on your email as I will be sending you a Touch Designer file to download and start working on.

What is Blob Tracking?

In creative coding, blob tracking is a computer vision technique that detects and tracks movements in a video steam. Its a great tool for creating interactive works of so kinds. A blob can be a person dancing or a tree blowing in the wind. We can use the data from these blobs—like their position, size, and velocity—to drive all sorts of visual and audio effects.

Work Beforehand

Everyone who signs up will receive a starter file with a basic blob tracker already set up. Your mission is to play with it, break it, and start building your own creative ideas before the meeting. The club meeting is like a hackathon except instead of hacking we’re just trying to make something cool.

Share & Explore

During the meetup, we’ll be sharing our files with each other. This is your chance to show the group what you've been working on, get feedback, and see how others have approached the same creative problem. If you weren’t able to solve any problems, its your chance to learn.

Apply to Your Practice

By collectively exploring different approaches, we can discover new techniques and artistic possibilities. The ideas and solutions we find as a group can be directly applied back to your own projects, helping you push your creative practice forward.
