The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) Ottawa Chapter, proudly sponsored by the Ottawa Cold Region Roads Research Group (OCR3G) at the University of Ottawa, invites you to a special seminar showcasing the structural engineering innovations behind the Centre Block Rehabilitation Project—one of Canada’s most significant heritage restoration initiatives. This seminar will be co-hosted by CESA (Civil Engineering Students Association) at uOttawa and CSCE Carleton Chapter.
Constructed in 1916, Centre Block is undergoing a transformative rehabilitation that includes the conservation of its historic architecture, modernization of building systems, and a comprehensive seismic upgrade. In this presentation, Dan Carson, Lead Structural Engineer at WSP, will share insights into the building’s existing structural conditions, seismic vulnerabilities, and the advanced engineering strategies employed to preserve and protect this national landmark.
Please note: Tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours before the event. On-site registration will not be available.
