With a career spanning over 30 years, award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist Steve Sharp has made a lasting impact on the music scene. A dynamic and seasoned performer, he has played extensively both as a solo artist and as a member of several Illinois Valley bands, including Missing 51, Of Sound Mind, Wake the Sheep, and his current project, The Steve Sharp Band.
Steve’s distinctive playing style blends a rich tapestry of influences—from the storytelling of '70s singer-songwriters to the harmonies of country rock icons like the Eagles, along with touches of pop, rock, blues, gospel, alternative, and Americana. His original songs showcase a strong melodic sensibility, always grounded in a signature country rock sound that resonates deeply with audiences.
From intimate acoustic sets to full-band performances, Steve’s heartfelt lyrics and captivating stage presence draw in first-time listeners and keep loyal fans coming back for more.
A graduate of the NIU School of Music, Steve is also a dedicated educator, sharing his passion for music as a teacher and director of bands and choir at Wallace Grade School in Ottawa, IL. Whether on stage or in the classroom, his commitment to music remains unwavering, inspiring the next generation while continuing to create and perform with the same passion that has defined his career.
