Ten years ago, Parents for Diversity began with families asking how schools could better reflect the children and communities they serve. Those early conversations grew into advocacy, partnerships, and a network of people committed to equity, belonging, and long‑term change.
This gathering marks the opening of P4D’s tenth anniversary year. Being an Effective Ally brings together families, educators, partners, volunteers, and community members for a morning of learning, dialogue, and connection.
The program includes a panel conversation with PD co‑founder Mante Molepo and former board member Alison Kinahan, followed by interactive workshops led by Alison and current board member Fatemeh Anvari. The keynote conversation will be led by Tya Collins, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa, whose work explores how institutional practices shape educational pathways and equity. The day concludes with lunch and a community market featuring local vendors.
Light refreshments will be available in the morning.
