La Pompe Attack

On Saturday, May 24, La Pompe Attack, featuring guitarist Doug Munro, will play at Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)’s Music in the Box series.

Led by two-time Grammy nominated guitarist Doug Munro, La Pompe Attack presents an exciting, updated interpretation of the hot swing sound of famed European jazz guitarist from the 1930s and 40s Django Reinhardt coupled with Munro’s own unique and highly entertaining style. Joined by a group of virtuosic performers including saxophonist Albert Rivera, drummer Ian Carroll, and bassist Michael Goetz, La Pompe Attack is high energy swing of the highest order.

“Putt Lake Toodleloo’ (GotMusic Records 2022) allows one to imagine what it would have been like if Django Reinhardt was from a much younger generation, and if he had been open to sharing the spotlight with other talented guitar soloists,” said jazz reviewer and historian Scott Yanow.

“Guitar heaven here,” as Munro and friends cover [sic] tunes in the style of Django Reinhardt,” wrote Vintage Guitar Magazine.

“The real pleasure of New York guitarist Munro’s album rests in his obvious fondness for Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France. His care and craft are at a high level,” wrote Downbeat Magazine

La Pompe Attack will play on Saturday, May 24 at 7:30 at WCT’s black box performance space, 23 Water St., Ossining, NY. Cash bar and refreshments available. Tickets are $30 per person. Limited seating available.
