The Joy of Recording Birdsong

There are a rapidly growing number of birders regularly recording birdsong — mostly through the app “Merlin”. What is recording birds’ songs and sound with more professional equipment like, though? In this presentation birdsong recordist and host of the Songbirding podcast Rob Porter will explore the equipment, techniques, rich history and stories from the field of this niche hobby.

Rob Porter is the Bird Studies Group director for the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, and has been recording birds for nearly ten years now. His podcast, Songbirding has recently surpassed over half a million listens, and has over 200 episodes, all recorded in the field in southern Ontario, Pennsylvania, and Alberta.

Join us for our April Meeting, everyone is welcome. The meeting will begin with club updates from our executive members and then follow with a presentation by our guest speaker.
