Death Café Oshawa: A safe space for open conversations on life, death, and grief.
🕯️ The Zen Shop is honoured to host Death Café Oshawa, part of the international Death Café movement that has spread to communities worldwide. These gatherings provide a unique opportunity for people to come together and talk openly about death and dying — topics that are often avoided in daily life. The purpose is not to be morbid, but to create a warm, welcoming environment where sharing helps bring peace, support, perspective, and even healing.
✨ Our Death Café Oshawa is facilitated by Stephanie Byfield-Duchesne and Reverend Karyn Williams, both certified End-of-Life Doulas. Sometimes called “Death Doulas,” End-of-Life Doulas are trained to offer guidance, comfort, and practical support during life’s final chapter. Stephanie brings her focus on emotional and spiritual healing, while Karyn provides compassionate wisdom about the practical and legal aspects of end-of-life planning. Together, they create balance — offering both heart-centered presence and grounded knowledge.

Instead, it is about conversation, community, and compassion. You may find comfort in hearing others’ experiences, or you may discover insight by voicing your own.
