If you have a memory, you have a story worth telling.
Join award-winning author David McGlynn and a community of local writers for a hands-on memoir workshop that will help you shape your personal experiences into compelling, well-crafted stories. Through writing exercises, discussion of key memoir techniques, and examples from celebrated works, David will guide you through the foundational elements of memoir writing—and show how your own memories can become powerful narratives.
This workshop is part of Jump Start Saturday, a monthly gathering designed to support and inspire local writers. Each session offers dedicated writing time and the chance to learn from accomplished authors who share their insights, experience, and encouragement.
David is the author of three acclaimed books, including One Day You'll Thank Me: Lessons From an Unexpected Fatherhood, A Door in the Ocean, and The End of the Straight and Narrow, all from Counterpoint Press. He teaches writing at Lawrence University and lives in Madison, Wisconsin. His latest work includes a novel about neonatal intensive care and a novel-in-stories set at a liberal arts college.
