Zoom | May 1 | 12 - 1:30 pm Eastern

Despite ongoing anti-racism efforts in our nation, racism continues to flourish. If most Americans align with a faith or tradition that upholds values of justice and equity, why are we still “here” in this static space?

Join us in this webinar as we answer this question by journeying back to our roots: digging up the racism that is embedded in our existing anti-racism frameworks. Together we will explore decolonizing methods, and inventory the historical seeds that continue to sprout as intended: to stunt our growth.

Rev. Dr. Jia Starr Brown is an African American queer pastor, educator, and activist in the Twin Cities, MN with more than two decades of experience advocating for underrepresented communities. With a heart for community and access for all, she stands – and activates – as a truth-teller at the intersection of faith, education, and justice.

Her personal philosophy being “I give what I need”, Dr. Starr Brown’s work is fueled by her lived experience – and lack – at the convergence of three vulnerable populations.

Equipped with a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in the field of “Social Transformation”, Dr. Starr Brown is ordained in The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
