About This Event

This online training will cover the basics of the Fair Housing Act, including the jurisdictional elements of a fair housing complaint and examples of discriminatory conduct by housing providers as well as a closer look at the protected classes of Disability and Familial Status.

About The Presenters

Peg Richards joined IFHC in October 2022 as the Education Project Director. Her background includes working with people experiencing homelessness, oversight of a low-income housing program, advocating for the disenfranchised, and educating our community about the experiences of people with whom she has worked with for the past two decades. Peg also has a strong background in writing and communication practices. She has contributed to the IFHC team by creating guides, handouts, and other educational materials. And is currently providing multiple opportunities across the state, to ensure all Idahoans understand housing rights, how to advocate for their rights, and Fair Housing laws and best practices.

Monica Fabbi studied Theater Arts at the University of Idaho, graduating in 1993, and worked in regional theater for 20 years as a tech director, stage manager, special effects technician, and more. In 2013, Monica switched gears, entering Concordia University School of Law in the fall of 2013. She graduated in 2016 and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar the following year. She began with the Intermountain Fair Housing Council that same year as an investigator and, In 2022, Monica was promoted to staff attorney. Since graduating and joining the IFHC, Monica has tirelessly advocated for Idahoans of all protected classes, as well as mentored colleagues, and continues to provide regular education to cities, housing providers, health care providers, and individuals through both written and in-person testimony and at city land use meetings, community gatherings, and other informational events.
