Ethics and Skills Workshop for Tennessee Court Interpreters - July 2025

At this time, there are far too few professional interpreters available and qualified to serve in Tennessee courts -- you can help fill that gap by preparing NOW to obtain the necessary credentials!

--Interpreters wishing to work in Tennessee State Courts must first be Certified or Registered by the State of Tennessee.

--This TN Court-approved, Ethics and Skills Workshop is a REQUIRED FIRST STEP in the 6-step process of becoming Certified or Registered.

--The Workshop consists of six 2.5-hour classes presented during a 2-week period. Classes are typically held via Zoom on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

--In this workshop you will learn about:

• the TN Court system
• the interpreter's role in it
• the essential skills you need for success
• the ethical rules court interpreters must follow, and
• the entire credentialing process.
• The instructor will also offer tips and techniques for passing requiered written and oral exams.

--This Ethics and Sklls Workshop will be offered only 4 times in 2025 -- in February, April, July & December.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop does NOT "certify" you!! However, attendance at a 14-hour TN State-approved Ethics and Skills Workshop is an obligatory first step for anyone wishing to complete the full 6-step credentialling process.

Judith Kenigson Kristy is a Federal and Tennessee State Certified Court Interpreter with over 35 years experience interpreting for courts, conferences, government entities, law firms and commercial clients. She is a Co-Founder and Consultant of the Tennessee Association of Professional Interpreters and Translators (TAPIT) and a former Director and Treasurer of the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT). Judith has presented conferences and training classes throughout the US for interpreters and translators of all sectors and has been helping aspiring court interpreters navigate the certification process in Tennessee since the program's inception in 2002.
