Publishing Primer with Caitlyn Averett

Join us at CANO on Saturday morning for a special event. We're hosting a behind-the-scenes look at traditional publishing, from what happens during an acquisition meeting to what working with an editor at a Big 5 publisher is actually like, and everything else that happens once you get a book deal. Bring your question or your own publishing experience (indie, hybrid, traditional--all are welcome) and come chat!

Caitlyn Averett is an author and publishing professional, having started her career as an editor at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and James Patterson's JIMMY before switching to production at Running Press, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. She has a master's degree in English/Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, a BFA in dance performance from the University of the Arts, and grew up in the Oneonta area and has recently returned. Her debut novel, Not Your Typical Love Story, will be out with Macmillan in early 2027. She can be found online @c.r_averett on social media or caitlynaverett.com.
