Devising with The Party Theater

Writers Salon is back and bigger than ever this spring! On February 19, 7:30 PM, at CANO (11 Ford Ave), we're hosting the genius creatives behind The Party Theater, a community-driven company based in Stamford, NY. The Party Theater presents contemporary plays, immersive outdoor theater, new works-in-development, and The Hill People's Comedy Fest, as well as workshops and community play readings that serve our community year-round.

Join Adrian Shirk and Kristin McCalley for an interactive exploration of ensemble-based devising—the collaborative process of creating original theater from the ground up. Using their work-in-progress The Sleepover as a window into their creative practice, Adrian and Kristin will share a short staged reading of excerpts, and then lead participants through a devising activity that demonstrates how The Party Theater develops new work collaboratively—transforming ideas, research, and improvisation into fully realized theatrical experiences. Whether you're a theater-maker, writer, or simply curious, the evening will offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the creative process. No prior theater experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and willingness to play.
