Here's a chance to expand your circle of ski/ride pals at SnowPals.org's casual get-together on the slopes of Palisades Tahoe; meet up as you are, no need to RSVP.


Annual Palisades Cushing Crossing Pond Skim

Date: SUNDAY May 4, 2025 (subject to change based on weather)
Event Time: 1-4 pm Details: Meet at KT Base Bar (outside) between12:30-1:00 pm

This is the last slopeside event of the season, and it'll be super fun!!

Feel free to bring a friend or two. If you're looking to ski/snowboard together prior to the event, we have a sign-up list to ski/ride with similar skill level skiers/snowboarders. to get on this event's carpool/rideshare contact list.

We'll also help facilitate ridesharing to this event from the SF Bay Area and Sacramento/Davis area.

Bring a chair, sun UV protection, your favorite drink and snacks.

The 33rd Annual Cushing Crossing

The original pond skimming contest is scheduled for May 3rd, weather & conditions permitting.

The 33rd Annual Cushing Crossing is the best event of the spring season. The original pond skimming contest is tentatively scheduled for May 3rd, 2025 at 1pm*. Join in on the fun, watch big spills, and share some much-needed laughs with our celebrity judges and 2 of the best emcees around. Costumes are highly encouraged! The awards ceremony will immediately follow the event at Cushing Pond. Each category winner will win prizes from our sponsors: Yeti, Smith, Dakine, and Darn Tough. Official prize details coming soon!

Pond Skimming Registration Info:

Registration begins @ 8am the KT Deck (SAME DAY as the event).

Registration fee is $20, cash only.

Participant must be there in-person to register.

The Cushing Crossing Rules:

Space is limited.

Costumes required and scores are heavily weighted to creativity of costume.

Registrant must be 18 or older and must be present to register (no one can register on behalf of any competitor).

This is a family friendly event. If your costume is inappropriate you will not be allowed in the start area.

Please bring your own life vest if you have one but if not, we will have loaners available.

If your entry includes more than one person, both people must be affixed to the same apparatus.

No pyrotechnics please.

For the open category, your apparatus must have the ability to turn and stop.

Male and female winners will be awarded in each category but only applicable to completed crossings (i.e. If you do not cross the pond you are not eligible for prizing if there are limited competitors in your category.)
