ABOUT THE AAM MULTISTATE COLLABORATIVE
The AAM Multistate Collaborative held its inaugural meeting in 2023 and was established to explore the state-level policies and infrastructure necessary for supporting AAM operations nationwide. The AAM Multistate Collaborative encompasses all modes of aviation, including Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles, while also addressing the needs of traditional aviation and airports. The collaborative serves as a forum for states to share insights on various topics, including aviation and aerospace, commerce and trade, economic development, technology, and strategies relevant to AAM.
While the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) governs AAM operations in national airspace, state governments can enhance AAM development through state and local laws, regulations, infrastructure, and funding that align with FAA policies. The collaborative aims to identify and harmonize governance and regulatory mechanisms within each state’s jurisdiction, ensuring operational continuity.
Members are dedicated to addressing the needs of new, flexible aviation services and facilitating infrastructure development. They also study how state and local authorities can provide guidance for AAM operations on the ground, connecting with the FAA’s airspace jurisdiction through a consistent regulatory framework. We invite you to join the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, our state leadership, and partners as we welcome the Advanced Air Mobility Multistate Collaborative.
