Yoga Nidra, often called "yogic sleep," is a guided meditation technique that aims to induce a state of deep relaxation while maintaining conscious awareness.
The practice involves lying down and being guided through mental imagery, body scans, and breath awareness to promote physical, mental, and emotional rest.
Essentially, this practice aims to bring the body and mind to a state of deep relaxation similar to sleep, but with the practitioner remaining conscious.
Class opens with brief history of Yoga Nidra and its benefits followed by a gentle spinal and joint warm-up.

Moira Anderson, CYT, E-RYT 500, LCSW is owner and director of River Rock Yoga and Pilates, and founder of The Mississippi Center for Yoga and Health in Ocean Springs, MS. She is a Professional Level Kripalu Yoga Teacher, teaching yoga full time since 2001.
She has been training yoga teachers since 2007.
Moira received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She has in-depth study and experience in Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy and has been using yoga therapeutically, in clinical psychiatric settings since 2010.
She is a licensed, clinical social worker and has provided mental health therapy in her private practice, Maitri Mental Health, since 2019.
