Chain Mail Jewelry Workshop

In this class, Dylan will introduce three chain mail weave patterns and various things you can make with them, from chain bracelets and necklaces, to dangly earrings, to full chain mail garments. This will also give you the fundamental skills necessary to explore other forms of jewelry making, and find your own style!

The three chain mail patterns this workshop covers are:

• European 4 in 1- this is what traditional European chain mail armor is made of and is the weave that most people think of when they think of chain mail.
• Japanese 6 in 2 - this a style of Kusari or Japanese chain mail traditionally used by Samurai that has lots of beautiful jewelry applications.
• Half Persian - this style is poorly named as it has no relation to Persia. I refer to this as double chain most of the time. It is a modern decorative style and makes lengths of chain rather than covering a wider surface so is a great pattern for jewelry making.
