Zo Lief
Hypnotic. Heavenly. Heavy. Zo Lief craft a kaleidoscopic sound that alludes a whimsical nostalgia. Collaging velvety, smoky vocals with fuzzy guitars and swirly synths, they bounce around the walls of psychedelia, dream pop, chamber pop, indie and garage rock.
Zo Lief is the unique collaboration of musical and romantic partners Laura Chen (Dutch singersongwriter, guitarist) and James Attwood (British multi-instrumentalist). Their music is marked by catchy melodic hooks and playful, poetic lyrics that render life and love through an alluring, cinematic lens. Performing live as a three-piece band, they bring their imaginative, retro-futuristic productions to life. Their 4-track debut EP 'Believe What You Believe’ (produced and mixed by James Bagshaw of Temples) was independently released via AWAL in March 2023. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, the EP was released on 10” vinyl in September 2024 and celebrated with a sold-out London headline show. The band have toured extensively in the UK and Europe, supporting the likes of NewDad, Cassia, Zimmer90, GLU, Temples, Lo Moon, and Iraina Mancini with performances at renowned venues and new music hotspots in Amsterdam, London, Paris, Berlin, Cologne, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Cardiff.
In 2024 they were selected as a 3voor12 Talent by the leading alternative music platform and went on a 12-week tour of The Netherlands for Popronde (the country's largest traveling music festival). The singles 'Pinch Me’, 'You (A Burden)' and ‘Stop The Party’ came ahead of their self-produced second 6-track EP ‘Hypnosis’ (co-produced and mixed by James Bagshaw of Temples), which was released on March 28th 2025 via LAB Music Amsterdam. 2025 will see the band promote their new EP with a headline show at Cinetol Amsterdam on June 7th, ahead touring and festival performances throughout UK and Europe, including Supersonic Block Party Festival in Paris and a headline UK tour in October.
Zo Lief receive continued support from Spotify and Apple Music playlisting (including New Music Friday NL and Belgium, Indie Update, New Music Daily, New In Alternative and New In Rock) and radioplay from NPO 3FM, 3voor12, KINK, BBC Introducing and Radio X.
