** PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED **
Spaces are STILL AVAILABLE for Sunday 25 May 11am-12pm
Set high on the cliffs overlooking the North Sea, the magnificent Tynemouth Priory and Castle will be transformed into the most unique Groove dancefloor experience - for two very special events.
We'll come together to dance among medieval ruins of the 7th century Benedictine monastery, beneath the soaring arches and castle towers, where monks roamed and Saints were buried; a place that has witnessed the passage of kings, the ravages of Viking invasions, and been a military stronghold for centuries, protecting the Tyne.
We are being given exclusive access to this breathtaking English Heritage site - how amazing! This will not only be a memorable dance experience but also a connection to the stories embedded in the ruins. It is more than just a dance event; it's a celebration of heritage, community, and the timeless joy of dance and movement.
Groove Among the Ruins embodies English Heritage’s mission to open up historic spaces in creative, inclusive ways. By transforming Tynemouth Priory and Castle into a vibrant dance space, this experience invites people to connect with history through movement, creativity, and community. It brings new life to one of England’s treasured landmarks — proving that heritage can be dynamic, joyful, and truly alive.
Two classes to choose from (one or both)
On Wednesday 14 May (6–7pm), join us as the sun dips low and the ruins glow with the colours of evening for a unique dance party experience.
and Sunday 25 May (11am–12pm) for a morning full of fresh sea air, flowing movement, and a celebration of being alive in this extraordinary place.
With the sea breeze in your hair and the dramatic backdrop of history all around, Groove Among the Ruins promises to be a dance experience like no other.
