Join us for an exciting summer of reading and activities at the Miami Public Library! Our Summer Reading Program runs from June 2, 2025, to August 9, 2025. This program is designed to keep young minds engaged and entertained all summer long.
Program Overview
Reading Challenge:
Log your reading minutes and aim to read 600 minutes over the summer. It's a great way to develop a reading habit and explore new stories.
Activities and Events:
Participate in a wide range of activities and events planned throughout the summer. There's something happening at the library every day!
Library Access:
No library card is needed to join the fun, but library cards are available for free to anyone living, working, or attending school in Ottawa County.
Special Events:
Enjoy exclusive access to two special events that are only open to summer reading program participants. These events promise fun and excitement!
Prizes and Milestones:
Participants will have the chance to win prizes for reaching reading milestones and completing the summer reading challenge. It's a fantastic way to stay motivated and earn rewards for your efforts!
Adopt a Book Bestie
Once you've signed up for the Summer Reading Program, you'll have the exciting opportunity to choose your very own Book Bestie to adopt. These adorable plush companions are here to make your reading journey even more enjoyable!
How It Works
Select Your Bestie:
Once enrolled in the Summer Reading Program, visit the Adoption Center in the Children's Section of the Miami Public Library to select your Book Bestie. Each plush toy is unique, ensuring you find the perfect reading buddy.
Bring Your Bestie to Programs:
Your Book Bestie is more than just a plush toy—it's your reading companion for the summer! Bring your Bestie along to all library programs and events. They love company and will be thrilled to join you on your adventures.
Daily Reading Routine:
Take great care of your Book Bestie by reading to them every day. Not only will this strengthen your bond, but it will also help you achieve your reading goals. Plus, it's a fun way to improve your reading skills!
Create Memories Together:
Capture your reading milestones and adventures with your Book Bestie. Share your favorite moments with the library community to inspire others and celebrate the joys of reading together.
How to Get Started
Enrollment:
Enroll in the program using our Beanstack app starting May 31st. Be sure to visit the library that day to celebrate at our Kick Off Party!
