We are excited to host members of the St. Francis High School Robotics Team for this important creek cleanup! Parking is limited at this location, so please carpool if possible.
This will be our first formal cleanup at this location since May 2024! Since we started this project 2 summers ago, most of the trash and freed sediment is long gone, substantially transforming the bottom of this channel back into a creekbed, rather than the landfill it once was. We will target another layer of legacy trash uncovered this past winter and some new trash that washed down.
We will be focusing on the trash and debris within the creek channel and welcome anyone who would like to clean along the top banks. Unexpectedly, there are several spots with some deep, stagnant water. Therefore, knee high boots or hip waders are preferred for these sections. This cleanup will have some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, where we will focus our cleanup.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 12 years old. Minors 12 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. Cultivators and shovels are also very helpful.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
