Join us for an enlightening hike along the historic 1844 route of American naturalist and writer Henry David Thoreau's ascent to the summit of Mount Greylock. This hike with a Park Interpreter features selected readings and visits to actual sites from Henry's account; a prelude to Thoreau's experience at Walden Pond.
Participants have the option for a one-way 5.5 mile route on the Bellows Pipe Trail to the summit (program duration approx. 4 hours), or round-trip 11-mile loop back to the Notch Road Gate (returning hike duration will vary - please call Mike Whalen for information). Hike is rated difficult due to strenuous elevation changes and some rugged topography.
