Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy is pleased to present our lively flamenco dance show called “FIESTA!”, featuring dozens of Mozaico Flamenco dancers in colourful costumes presenting traditional flamenco dances from Spain. We celebrate COMMUNITY, as we feature the rich artistry of Mozaico Flamenco including Maestra Kasandra “La China” with guitarist Peter Mole and guest artist from Victoria Gareth Owen with our flamenco singers, La Sirena, Kelty McKerracher and Pat Keith. This wonderful concert depicts the vibrance energy of fiery flamenco!

“FIESTA” celebrates a dozen emerging artists embracing what we consider to be Flamenco Puro, pure flamenco originating from the Roma in Andalucia, dancing solo Bulerias and Tangos por Fiesta. These dances originate from the Roma people of Andalucia where people break out into song and dance in the streets, at restaurants, parties or whenever they are so inspired. In this show, we reflect the spontaneity and cherish each person’s unique expression.

Background about Flamenco:

Flamenco: Under the umbrella of “Spanish Dance”, there are many genres of dance including classico espanol and jotas with castanets, regional Spanish folk dances from various cities and “Flamenco” originates from Andalucia. Flamenco is our favourite, as we love it for its fiery expression! Mozaico Flamenco specializes in Cuadro Flamenco, which is a group that includes live dancer, singer, guitarist and palmas. Weprize energetic connection and expression!

Multicultural Expression: Flamenco has multicultural roots and is an amalgamation of Andalucian, Spanish, Roma, Arabic, Moorish, Sephardic cultures and religion, and has been influenced by Indian, Arabic, Moorish music. Amongst the Spanish song forms or “palos” includes Fandangos from Huelva (Andalucia) and Farruca from Galicia (Northern Spain). However, we consider “Flamenco Puro” or pure flamenco to originate from the traveling Roma gypsy families who migrated from India, through Northern Africa and landed in Andalucia, South of Spain, to create soulful Cante Jondo, deep profound song and the Bulerias & Tangos por Fiesta.
