The Town of Normal will close College Avenue from Anderson Park to Main Street to motor vehicles from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, July 20 for Normal Stride & Ride, an open streets event encouraging the community to walk, jog and bike the avenue.
Part of Parks & Recreation month, Normal Stride & Ride promotes healthy lifestyles and provides a new way for the community to get active. The effort is a collaboration between the Town of Normal and local affinity groups, including community partners such as Bike Blo-No and Friends of Constitution Trail.
The route will be completely open to bicycles, joggers, runners, walkers, dog walkers, etc. Participants can refill their water bottles at the Ecology Action Center’s Water Monster along the route.
Park at the east parking lot at Anderson Park. The event kicks off in the west parking lot, proceeds west along College Avenue / Mulberry Street to Main Street. Turn around at Main Street and enjoy College Avenue back to the park. Access to College Avenue will end at Beech Street. Beech and Main Streets will remain open.
After enjoying fun at the park, head to Uptown Normal to take advantage of all the area has to offer!

Anderson Aquatic Center will open an hour early, at 10 a.m., so the community can enjoy a swim after enjoying the Normal Stride & Ride route.
