HEARTLAND THEATRE COMPANY hosts a Free Event
AN INSIDE LOOK: VENUS IN FUR
Monday August 11, 7-8 pm at Heartland Theatre
The public is invited to a sneak peek behind the scenes of our upcoming show VENUS IN FUR by David Ives.
The director and designers will share their process and insights at AN INSIDE LOOK, a partnership between the Normal Public Library and Heartland, on Heartland’s stage.
NO RESERVATIONS - NO CHARGE
You will meet the director Kathleen Kirk, and the design staff for VENUS IN FUR, who will share their process. Normal Public Library staff will moderate the discussion and share relevant materials and resources. The audience will see some of the concept for the scenic design, costumes, lighting design and interesting props, as well as hear the director’s vision and learn about helpful related materials at the Normal Public Library. Guests will be able to ask questions of the director, designers, and library staff.
ABOUT THE PLAY: A wickedly funny and seductive game of cat-and-mouse, where an audition unravels into a tense, twisty battle over power, gender, and control.
[Mature Content – Adult Situations]
An Inside Look is a collaboration between Normal Public Library and Heartland Theatre Company. The program provides an opportunity for the community to meet production staff of upcoming Heartland Theatre productions and discuss relevancy, history, and technical aspects of each valuable theatre offering. Normal Public Library provides limited copies of scripts and related material available to borrow.
An Inside Look has a two-fold mission. The two organizations hope to diversify their patronage through intersection—drawing theatregoers to the library and sending library visitors to the theatre. Besides facilitating this mutual support system, An Inside Look provides prospective audience members insight into the creative process of transforming a script into a theatrical experience. An Inside Look, over the course of Heartland’s season, consists of several individual sessions, which take place two weeks before the opening of select shows in Heartland Theatre Company’s season. Sessions are comprised of a discussion by the theatre artists, followed by questions from the audience.
Performances: August 28,29,30 & September 5,6,7 | 12,13* at 7:30 pm; Matinees on Sunday, September 7 (Panel Discussion after) and Saturday, September 13 at 2:00 pm. *There are two performances on September 13.
