Burn Trauma Unit Overview
The Burn Trauma Unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate and Medical/Surgical care unit. It includes:
17 Intermediate Care beds for neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma patients, typically transferred from Burn Trauma ICU or Neurosurgical ICU.
17 Medical/Surgical beds for similar conditions, plus bariatric surgery patients (gastric bypass and sleeve).
Nurses are cross-trained to work both sides of the unit.
Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3–4 for Intermediate Care, 5–6 for Medical/Surgical.
RNs collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to uphold nursing standards and meet the needs of patients, families, and the community.
