Mindful Self-Compassion to Reduce Suicide Ideation in Transgender Adolescents:

This presentation describes a study in which a mindful self-compassion program for transgender adolescents was implemented; this program teaches teens how to be kinder and more supportive to themselves. Measures of mental health were administered before the program began, after the program was over, and at 2 months follow-up. Notably, suicidal ideation decreased significantly across the study. Quotes from participants of the study will be shared that articulate their experience of the program. In addition, audience members will be invited to participate in experiential practices from the mindful self-compassion program so that the audience gets a full understanding of what self-compassion is.
