Ο διεθνούς φήμης κοντραμπασίστας Kham Meslien από τη Γαλλία, με εμφανίσεις σε όλες τις ηπείρους –από τις μεγάλες σκηνές μητροπόλεων, όπως η Νέα Υόρκη, μέχρι τις ερήμους της Αυστραλίας και της Αμερικής–, έρχεται για πρώτη φορά στην Κύπρο για να παρουσιάσει στο κοινό της Αξιοθέας, την αφηγηματική δύναμη του κοντραμπάσου του και την αισθαντικότητα των σαγηνευτικών μελωδιών του.
Ο Kham Meslien, ο οποίος έχει συνεργαστεί με σπουδαίους καλλιτέχνες όπως οι Robert Plant, Archie Shepp, Robert Wyatt και Justin Adams, αξιοποιεί τις δυνατότητες που προσφέρουν οι λούπες, τα εφέ, το charango και τα διάφορα κρουστά και με ελευθερία έκφρασης δημιουργεί σύνθετες ηχητικές υφές, και αυτοσχεδιασμούς που παραπέμπουν στις πρώτες σόλο δουλειές του πρωτοπόρου της σύγχρονης ευρωπαϊκής τζαζ, Henri Texier.
Σε κάθε ερμηνεία του, ο Kham Meslien συνδυάζει τη βαθιά ρυθμική αίσθηση του κοντραμπάσου με μελωδική ευαισθησία και με εθνολογικές αναφορές, μετατρέποντας κάθε συναυλία του σε έναν κόσμο αισθητηριακής εμπειρίας, όπου η ύλη και ο χρόνος αποκτούν μουσική υπόσταση.

The internationally acclaimed double bassist Kham Meslien from France, who has performed on every continent—from the grand stages of major cities such as New York to the deserts of Australia and the Americas— comes to Cyprus for the first time to present at Axiothea the narrative power of his double bass and the expressive allure of his mesmerizing melodies.
Having collaborated with renowned artists such as Robert Plant, Archie Shepp, Robert Wyatt, and Justin Adams, Kham Meslien explores the possibilities of loops, effects, charango, and various percussion instruments, creating complex sonic textures and improvisations reminiscent of the early solo works of the pioneering European jazz musician Henri Texier.
In every performance, Meslien combines the profound rhythmic sensibility of the double bass with melodic nuance and ethnological references, transforming each concert into a world of sensory experience, where matter and time acquire musical form.
The concert is organised with the support of the Institut Français de Chypre.
