About the event

Sacred Grief Retreat
A sacred retreat to honor grief, transform sorrow, and reconnect with love through ritual, movement, and shared healing.

About this Event

Sacred Grief Retreat - November 29th

Grief is one of the deepest expressions of love we will ever know. Yet in a world that often rushes us through our pain, grief is rarely given the space it needs to be felt, honored, and understood.

The Sacred Grief Retreat is a sanctuary for the heart, a space to honor loss, tend to sorrow, and allow grief to move through you with love and presence. In a world that often asks us to suppress or move past our pain, this retreat offers something different: the chance to be held in your grief, to meet it with tenderness, and to let it transform you.

Whether you are mourning a loved one, the ending of a relationship, a shift in identity, or the loss of something intangible, you do not have to navigate it alone. Here, grief is not a problem to fix but a natural expression of love. In sacred community, we open to the wisdom within our sorrow, embracing it as a path to healing, connection, and renewal.

Held on a breathtaking country property and animal sanctuary in Niagara-on-the-Lake, this retreat offers a nurturing and supportive space for your healing journey. The land is home to rescued sheep, goats, cows, and horses, with a sparkling spring-fed pond and panoramic sunset views. We will gather in a stunning studio space with hand-painted murals and heated floors, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for deep inner work.

What to Expect:

  • Guided grief rituals to honor loss in a sacred way: Through intentional ceremony, we create a sacred space to honor the depth of our grief, allowing it to be fully seen and acknowledged. These rituals offer a meaningful way to express and release emotions, transforming sorrow into a source of wisdom, connection, and renewal.
  • Somatic movement to process emotions through the body: Grief is not just an emotion, it lives in the body, influencing our posture, breath, and energy. Through gentle, intuitive movement, we invite stuck emotions to flow, releasing tension and creating space for deeper healing and integration.
  • Breathwork to create space for release and renewal: The breath is a powerful bridge between the body and spirit, helping us move through grief with greater ease and presence. Through guided breathwork, we soften resistance, release stored emotions, and reconnect with the life force within us.
  • Group sharing and deep listening in a safe, intimate circle: Being witnessed in our grief is profoundly healing. In this intimate circle, we practice deep listening and open-hearted presence, holding space for one another’s stories with compassion, allowing each person to be fully seen and supported.
  • Meditation and reflective journaling for inner exploration: Through guided meditation, we quiet the mind and connect with the still, wise presence within. Reflective journaling deepens this process, offering a private space to explore emotions, insights, and the evolving relationship we have with our grief.
  • Nourishing, organic meal and herbal tea for grounding and replenishment: Healing requires nourishment on every level. We will share a beautifully prepared organic meal, rich in wholesome ingredients, alongside herbal tea crafted to soothe the nervous system, replenish the body, and ground us in the present moment.

This retreat is a sacred journey through sorrow and rebirth, where we honor grief as a gateway to deeper wisdom, renewal, and wholeness.

Agenda

🕑: 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Welcome

Info: We begin by stepping into sacred space together, grounding into the present moment, and setting the foundation for a deeply held and supported experience. I will introduce the retreat and guide us in establishing shared agreements, honoring this as a space of safety, presence, and non-judgment. Then, moving around the circle, each participant is invited to introduce themselves and share their intentions for the day. This is not about saying the perfect words; it is about arriving fully as you are, in your truth, knowing that you are seen, heard, and held exactly where you are in your journey.

🕑: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Grounding Movement Practice

Info: Before we step deeper into the day, we take time to drop fully into our bodies through gentle, intuitive movement. Grief is not only held in the heart, it is carried in our muscles, our breath, our bones. This practice allows us to gently loosen the energy that may be held in tension or resistance, allowing us to soften, open, and be fully present with ourselves in a way that feels nurturing and safe. There is no right or wrong way to move, only what feels true in the moment.

🕑: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Opening Ceremony & Sharing Circle

Info: With reverence, I light the candles on the central altar, calling in the sacredness of this space and honoring the unseen yet ever-present forces that hold us. Moving around the circle, each person will have the opportunity to share the grief they are carrying and place a meaningful altar item in the center. These offerings may represent a loved one, a transition, a dream lost, or any piece of your story that longs to be witnessed. Between each share, we will pause for three deep breaths—allowing each story to land, integrating its presence without rush, and returning to our center before moving forward. This is a space where grief is not something to be fixed but honored in its fullness.

🕑: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Journaling: Collecting Our Resources

Info: Before we break for lunch, I will guide a reflective journaling practice centered on resourcing: gathering the tools, practices, and inner anchors that help us navigate the depths of grief. Grief is tender work, and knowing how to care for ourselves within it is essential. This exercise helps bring awareness to what soothes and supports us, empowering each person with a roadmap to return to when needed. Meanwhile, I will prepare a nourishing meal, holding the energy of the space with warmth and care.

🕑: 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Lunch & Nature Connection

Info: Sharing a meal is a sacred act of nourishment, grounding, and community. We will enjoy a wholesome, charcuterie-style meal featuring locally sourced meats, artisanal cheeses, plant-based options, gluten-free crackers, organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts, all carefully selected to be nourishing, high-quality, and in harmony with the earth. Weather permitting, we will take our meal outdoors, where the gentle presence of nature and the rescued animals on the land offer their quiet companionship. Afterward, participants are encouraged to walk the property, allowing time for digestion, not only of food, but of the emotions and experiences of the morning. The land itself is a healer, and in this spaciousness, you may find solace in the trees, the water, or the steady gaze of a grazing horse.

🕑: 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Guided Loving Kindness Meditation

Info: Together we will gather in circle, going inward for a deeply moving Loving Kindness meditation. This practice invites us to hold ourselves in compassion, extending gentleness to the parts of us that ache. Grief, at its core, is an expression of love, and through this meditation, we begin to invite love back into the places where pain has settled. Guided by my voice, we will allow love to wash through us like a soothing balm, touching even the most tender places with warmth and care.

🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:00 PM
Heart-to-Heart Connection Practice

Info: Now, we extend that same Loving Kindness outward. Standing in two lines facing each other, we meet one another’s gaze with presence, allowing the energy of unconditional love and acceptance to flow freely. No words are needed, only the quiet recognition that grief is shared, that we are not alone, and that we are worthy of being held in love. This practice is simple yet profound, often stirring deep emotions as we allow ourselves to be seen in our wholeness.

🕑: 03:00 PM - 03:30 PM
Healing Meditation & Sound Journey

Info: Laying down with blankets and pillows, we settle into full relaxation as I guide us through a closing healing meditation infused with sacred sound. A gentle soundscape of healing frequencies, crystal singing bowls, and chimes will support the journey as I weave spoken word, prayer, singing, and energy healing into the space. Moving around the room, I will offer hands-on or hands-over energy work to each person, facilitating deep restoration and balance. This is a moment to surrender, to receive, and to allow grief to be held by something greater than ourselves.

🕑: 03:30 PM - 04:00 PM
Closing Ceremony & Sharing Circle

Info: As we emerge from our meditation, we will gather in one final circle to share reflections, insights, or shifts that have unfolded throughout the day. This is an opportunity to acknowledge how we feel now compared to when we first arrived, to name what has moved, and to express anything that feels present. There is no expectation—only an open space for truth to be spoken.

🕑: 04:00 PM
Completion & Integration

Info: With hearts full, we close our time together. I will offer a gentle reminder to return to the resources we cultivated earlier, allowing integration to continue in the coming days. This is not the end of grief work, but a continuation of it, one that you now walk with greater awareness, support, and connection. We part with warm goodbyes, heartfelt hugs, and a deep knowing that we are not alone in this journey.
