Chef Signature Series - A Chef's Journey: Chef Zach Keeshig

Niagara College's Signature Chef Series is back by popular demand, and its first Indigenous guest chef for 2025 will bring the tastes of Progressive Indigenous Cuisine to Benchmark as part of a celebration to mark the end of the summer.

On Thursday, October 2nd, the legendary dinner series will kick off with Executive Chef Zack Keeshig from Naagan, which in Ojibwa means "dish," an intimate 17-seat restaurant located in the heart of Owen Sound, Ontario.

Chef Zach and Naagan are about connection - to the land, to our food, and to each other.

Experience progressive indigenous cuisine with an upscale multi-course tasting menu, using locally sourced/grown/foraged food with Chef Zach Keeshig.

Zach’s mission is to fuse his cultural Ojibwa cuisine with modern culinary techniques and ingredients.

Naagan was recently named one of Canada's Top 10 New Restaurants.

"What I really want to do is shift how Indigenous cuisine is seen in Canada. Much of my cooking is about educating and storytelling. But ultimately, the food has to taste good. I want people to say, ‘Let’s go for Indigenous tonight,’ just as they would for French or Italian."
