In honor of Juneteenth, youth artists will design a 2-foot by 3-foot mural composed of twelve 8x8 inch canvas squares. Drawing inspiration from Juneteenth history, African textile design, and oral storytelling, each teen will create an individual sketch that contributes to a larger collective image. The outlined mural will be displayed at a Juneteenth celebration, where community members will be invited to help bring the quilt to life by filling in each canvas square with color and meaning.
