Mike McCorkle will speak at our next
Meeting regarding PCPs (Precint Committee Person) and his experience at the State Level. There is always so much going on for and against Kansans at the state level, it will be interesting to hear the latest.
Our meeting will be the third Tuesday of this month, May 20th, at the Newton Library.
### Political Stance and Policy Priorities
McCorkle's platform emphasizes progressive policies on several key issues:
* **Healthcare**: He advocates for expanding Medicaid (KanCare) to provide healthcare access to more Kansans, aligning with neighboring states that have adopted Medicaid expansion. ([KSN News][1])
* **Reproductive Rights**: McCorkle supports codifying abortion rights into state law, following the 2022 constitutional amendment that preserved abortion rights in Kansas. ([Kansas Reflector][2])
* **LGBTQ+ Rights**: He believes in equality for all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, and supports equal rights and opportunities. ([KSN News][1])
* **Medical Marijuana**: McCorkle endorses the legalization of medical marijuana, viewing it as a necessary step for Kansans who could benefit from its use. ([Kansas.com][3])
* **Education**: He advocates for fully funding public education and prioritizing special education services. ([Kansas Reflector][2])
* **Housing**: McCorkle supports policies that encourage the development of affordable housing, particularly smaller units accessible to first-time homebuyers. ([KSN News][1])
* **Ballot Initiatives**: He is in favor of introducing ballot initiative legislation, allowing Kansans to propose and vote on laws directly. ([The Sunflower][4])
### Legislative Record
As of now, McCorkle has not held a legislative office, so there is no voting record available. His positions are based on his campaign platform and public statements.
