Folk Art Artist Social

In partnership with the Downtown Newton Development Association, we invite you to our Folk Art at NoCo ARTS Artist Social which will take place on Friday, May 9th from 5pm to 8pm! Join us for a special gathering of artists and art lovers to celebrate Folk Art right here in the Foothills.

🎥 We will start off with a special preview of the new documentary film, ’Minnie Evans: Draw or Die’ followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Linda J Royal. Minnie Evans was an African American folk artist from Wilmington, NC. Her vision inspired drawings and paintings have been collected by art collectors and art museums from around the world. Several of her works are part of the folk art collection at the Hickory Museum of Art. Join us to learn more about her amazing story.

🎶 Live music will be performed by local legends, Ken Campbell & Friends and the Catawba River Boys.

🥙 Food will be provided by 3 Little Birds Newton.

🍷A cash bar will be provided by the new speakeasy and whisky bar, Discretion Underground.

This event is FREE and open to the public!

📍 NoCo ARTS is located at 118 N. College Avenue in Downtown Newton, NC.
