✨ High Tea With a Side of History

The Chinese Tea House at Marble House is more than a stunning setting — it’s a symbol of strength, beauty, and resilience. Marble House was built by William Vanderbilt in the late eighteenth century as a gift to his wife Alva Belmont for her thirty-ninth birthday. Alva added the cliffside tea house in 1908, modeled after the Song dynasty’s intricate artwork and culture. For many years, the structure was used for anything but tea parties. Belmont, an ardent suffragist, would arrange secret meetings supporting women’s rights.
