Preparations are already underway for Chinese New Year 2020 as the city plans to host one of the biggest celebrations in the North East on Sunday 26th January.
Families will be able to enjoy a day of free Chinese events and performances for all ages including traditional crafts, dance, music and food and drink.

Stowell street, Chinatown will be closed off to road traffic.
Central station and monument metro stations are both walking distance to Stowell Street, Chinatown.
The Chinese New Year parade will include many Chinese associated societies including the traditional dragon and lion dance. The parade will start at
The green, old Eldon square at roughly 11.30am before parading to the arch in Chinatown. So if you would like to walk along side the parade to Stowell street Chinatown, people are more than welcome to.

1. Chinese Arch, Stowell Street
Speeches from key representatives of the Chinese community and Newcastle City Council at approximately 12pm.
The popular traditional dragon and lion dances will once again animate the area around the ceremonial Chinese arch on Stowell Street. This will take place from approximately 12:30pm.
2. North East Chinese Association - Stowell Street
The North East Chinese Association presents an exhibition of arts & crafts and food between 12pm - 4pm.
3. Chinese Market & Fairground - Bath Lane
Come along and enjoy the funfair and stalls featuring traditional arts and crafts and Chinese food between 11am - 4pm.
