In this fun and hands-on introductory course, students will learn the fundamentals of safely preserving food using canning techniques of water bath canning. It will cover essential topics including understanding food preservation methods, the necessary tools and equipment, and the principles behind safe canning practices.
Each session will focus on a different type of food, giving you the chance to create and take home your own delicious batch of pickles, tomato sauce, or jams and jellies.
You’ll leave each session with a few jars of your own delicious creation — and the skills and confidence to can at home all year-long. Whether you’re brand new to canning or just looking to level up your skills, this sweet (and savory!) course is for you!
Newburyport High School teacher and passionate lifelong canner, Tina Cochran loves sharing her favorite recipes and believes canning is a wonderful way to bring people together in community.
