Mark your calendars! The Newburyport Yankee Homecoming Competitive Cornhole Tournament, will be returning to the outdoor pavilion of the Newburyport Elks on Saturday, August 2nd!
In addition to a great day of cornhole, this event will feature a live performance by the kick ass band Mostly Young as well as an appearance from the Justine's Baked Goods Food Truck.
Unique to Newburyport, Yankee Homecoming is the city’s summer celebration, which aims to revive appreciation for the heritage and beauty of the city by bringing back natives and visitors to Newburyport for a week’s worth of events. The first week of August was chosen, as it serves as the birthday of the Coast Guard. Port residents and visitors have flocked to Newburyport each summer since 1958, to recognize the Coast Guard for its contributions to our community.
Over the years, Yankee Homecoming has grown to highlight more and more creative initiatives that have been welcomed by the event organizers, residents and visitors. From Olde Fashioned Sunday, to Waterfront Concerts on the Merrimack River, to road races and parades, to downtown craft fairs and fireworks, the event has offered something for everyone. In 2025, Yankee Homecoming is proud to present the 5th Annual Yankee Homecoming Competitive Cornhole Tournament.
Following four round robin games, the teams of two will be seeded into Double Elimination tournament, which will be open to a field of 64 teams. Cost for entry will be $60 per team, payable at registration on the morning of the tournament. Players may bring their own bags, or can borrow a set from NBPT Cornhole.
The tournament will begin promptly at 12:00 PM. We strongly advise that all participants download the Scoreholio app, as it will allow them to follow their team through the bracket, and notify them of which board they are on when it’s their turn to play.
The tournament will feature cash payouts to the top finishers, and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefits the Yankee Homecoming Committee.
