The annual Memorial Day program and wreath-laying ceremony will begin at 12:30 on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, at Fillmore Turner Hall. The public is invited. Refreshments will be available at 11:30.
The program will open with the Presentation of the Colors by the West Bend Veteran Color Guard, and the Kewaskum High School Band will lead with the National Anthem and the U.S. Armed Forces Medley.
Our program will honor a local family with a legacy of service to our country. Fred Geidel was born in Fillmore and served in World War I. In 1921, he married Alma Groeschel, and they had six sons. All six sons served in the military. We will hear more about this family’s legacy of service to their country which continues down through the generations.
The program will close with the traditional fresh-flower wreath procession to the cemetery, the twenty-one-gun salute & Taps, followed by the attendees’ placing flowers from the wreath on the graves of veterans in the cemetery.
The Memorial Day Program takes place indoors at the historic Fillmore Turner Hall at 523 County Highway H. Handicapped parking and building access are available at the rear of the building.
This event is hosted by Farmington Historical Society. Our thanks to Fillmore Turner Hall, West Bend Veteran Color Guard, St. Martin’s parish for the refreshments, the Kewaskum High School Band, and a very special thank you to the Geidel family for their service to our country.
Please join us as we honor the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the men and women who gave their lives in service to their country.
