The leader of Redeemed Temple of Deliverance finds himself astray. In his pursuit of repentance – and cleansing of his soul that has been tarnished by his lustful sins, he discovers that, while his creator’s benevolence toward the weak and astray to be of endless consolation, his mistress’ incessant appetite for their forbidden union and his faithful wife’s resentment for his polygamous deed, shall require more than his resolve to gain back his long-standing triumph as preacher, father and husband, and a highly revered man of God.

Will he ever stand before his congregation again, upright and swollen with pride? Or, shall he lead a life of indignity, guiltiness and isolation? These are vexing questions that preoccupy the religious leader’s mind as he embarks on his quest for redemption.

Newark’s Native Prolific Playwright has done it again! On February 19, 2017, Pastor Michael G Carr, dared and did the unthinkable! Having graced the stage of the American Theatre of Actors, the World Famous Apollo, & yes the Historic Newark Symphony Hall aka NPAC, the man who believes in NEWARK, the City of HOPE, dared to continue to dream and take the stage productions that continues to cause a STIR, took this provocative, dramatic and riveting stage production to NEWARKS CITYPLEX 12! Yes on February 19, 2017 the SHAQ THEATRE ROCKED!

I could not believe my eyes as I witness overwhelmingly people coming out to Newark Cityplex wearing Sunday’s best, some even dressed to the NINE! The ground swell surrounding this phenomenal production was evident that people had not only been talking about this stage production but anticipating the NOW MUST SEE stage production “WHILE U WERE PREACHING”. The theatre lobby and halls were packed even with vendors and I thought at the time movie goers in general, however as I was walking down the corridors of the theatre to the SHAQ Theatre, suddenly I found myself unable to move as the crowd was heading in the same direction to see this extraordinary stage production.

While U Were Preaching is again without question A MUST SEE stage production everyone MUST see. As I wondered how could this be pulled off in a theatre movie goers normally go see on the ‘BIG SCREEN” a stage production NOT on the “big screen”, well I must admit I was simply floored. From the sound too the lighting of the stage it was simply remarkable as I witness the filling of seats to capacity, yes CAPACITY! The cast was how should I say, “off the chain”! The actors/actresses were superb and music incredible. I don’t know they pull this off but they did! The writing and the storyline is wonderful and the message is powerful. To me, it was not and should NOT be labeled as a “church play”, no offense! A masterful and incredible piece of ART in theatre form is what this production truly is. Guess what, the International Recording Artist Professor James Hall gave a blazing cameo performance! You never know with Carr at the last minute having such acclaimed artist showing up. Everyone from every walk of life will and can relate to “While U Were Preaching”. Pastor Michael G Carr, Director Dwayane Hickman and his team has a HIT on their hands. Now don’t sleep on the Co-Executive Producer either, Mrs. Leah Randolph is no stranger to theatre according to my resources and from what I hear, you have seen nothing yet from this stage production.
WAIT! WAIT! Did I forget to tell mention it’s not over? Well back by popular demand, “While U Were Preaching” is return just in time before Mother’s Day to the Historical Newark Symphony Hall, May 6, 2017! Now don’t miss this wonderful opportunity and history in the making to see and witness one of “brick city’s own sensational stage production! Sorry, if my sources are right, this may be its last show in NEW JERSEY for a while as it’s about to TOUR due to its demand in the southland and other states. The buzz is already on about making turning this stage production into a major film. I’m not kidding, you have people like Carlo Ella, William Michael Barbee, and Joshua Coates just to name a few, are already on it. Newark Gems are continually rising to the occasion. With the support of Kenneth Gifford, Dr. Albert Lewis, Councilwoman President Mildred Crump, Savvy Marketing (Savoy & Mark), Rev. Louise Rountree, again just to name a few name my sources shared, this rising and prolific playwright is well on his way. Truthfully, what’s amazing to me is that Pastor Carr, remains humble and true to his core beliefs and stands firm. I encourage every reader, to go see While U Were Preaching, this coming May 6, 2017 at the Historic Newark Symphony Hall! You can follow this production on social media Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram.
