"The Pause That Heals"
—a poem on Dis-ease Prevention
In the hush before the symptom speaks,
there lies a whisper, soft and wise —
a message carried on breath and bone,
beneath the clutter, beneath the cries .
Not all dis-ease begins with pain;
some root in silence, shade, or speed —
in unmet hungers, restless minds,
and soils that thirst for deeper seed .
Prevention is the sacred pause ,
the listening ear, the gentle hand —
that tends the garden long before
the weeds declare their harsh demand .
It’s found in greens upon the plate ,
in bitter teas and laughter's swell ,
in rising early with the sun ,
in trusting signs the body tells .
It’s boundaries honored, rhythms kept ,
the art of rest, the will to slow —
it’s nourishing the soul as much
as flushing toxins we can’t know .
It asks not fear but reverence ,
not rigid rule but tender grace —
a dance between the root and fruit ,
between the shadow and the face .
So let us learn to sense the drift ,
to meet dis-ease before its climb—
by living whole, aligned, awake —
with every breath, reclaiming time .
