Vinyl Sundays 39: Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Our May session features one of the most influential British albums of the 1990s. Released in 1991, Blue Lines by the Bristolian collective Massive Attack became the origin of the term “trip hop”.
Fusing elements of hip-hop, soul, dub, reggae and soul, the album became an instant classic and launched the careers of Shara Nelson and Tricky.
The album contains the beautiful hit single Unfinished Sympathy which was accompanied by an iconic promo video.
Nearly thirty five years after its release, Blue Lines still sounds as fresh and current as the day it was released.
