Voyage introduces two pillars of Indian classical tradition—music and dance—through live performance and guided presentation.
The evening opens with a Hansaveena recital by Ramanan Venkatraman, accompanied by Aditya Phatak on tabla, highlighting the essential elements of rāga (melodic structure) and tāla (rhythmic cycle) in Indian classical instrumental music.
This is followed by an Introduction to Odissi Dance, presented by Kiana Abraham and conducted by Radhika Samson. Odissi is one of India’s oldest classical dance forms, known for its graceful movements, symbolic gestures, and intricate rhythmic footwork. The presentation offers insight into its cultural origins and foundational vocabulary.
