Lines of Departure

Fremin is delighted to present "LINES OF DEPARTURE" a new exhibition showcasing the works of Belgium photographer artist DIDIER ENGELS and Swedish artist JOHANNES NIELSEN.

The exhibition will run from June 5th to July 20th with an artist opening reception on Thursday June 5th from 6 to 8 PM.

On June 5th 2025 Fremin Gallery is excited to greet you with our new striking exhibition “Lines of Departure” featuring exceptional artists–Didier Engels and Johannes Nielsen. In a compelling union of texture form and emotion artists Didier Engels and Johannes Nielsen present an exhibition that bridges the industrial and the organic the visible and the intangible. Didier Engels a self-taught Belgian photographer with a 30-year background in textile styling and interior design transforms the weathered beauty of maritime structures into abstract compositions. His vivid photographs capture the sedimentary textures and faded hues of ship hulls and containers drawing poetic strength from oxidized steel and the patina of time. In contrast Swedish sculptor Johannes Nielsen breathes life into bronze using his own body as a foundation for expressive figures that reveal the soul beneath the surface. With a focus on the tension between presence and absence Nielsen’s faceless yet emotive forms evoke deep lingering responses through a minimalist interplay of space and material. Together Engels and Nielsen craft a visual dialogue that invites viewers into a world of silent strength emotional resonance and timeless form.
