Summer Discovery Days: FireWise Fraser

The FRDC is delighted to offer extra programming during long weekends with Summer Discovery Days! There’s so much to see and discover on these long summer days, and we hope you’ll join us!

The smoky season is here in the Fraser River Basin—a time when fire shows its two sides: it's a powerful force for renewal but can also be harmful, especially with today’s hotter, drier climate. Join us to explore how fire shapes our land and how we can live safely with it.

We’ll learn fire-smart tips and build a fire-resistant home; learn how some plants actually need fire to grow and regenerate in a storytime and planting activity; watch videos on cultural and prescribed burning; and discover how some plant species have adapted to fire over time.
