Join BE NOLA for a transformative morning of learning, dialogue, and action at the Black Is Brilliant Community Power Design Workshop — an energizing event designed to honor our past while shaping our future.
Building on our 2025 Black Is Brilliant: Speaker Series and Community Power Study Groups, on June 28 we are hosting a Design Workshop to co-create a vision to establish “Black Education History Week" in New Orleans alongside parents, educators, and community advocates.
This intimate workshop, hosted by BE NOLA and The Blairisms, will feature two powerful voices in Black education and advocacy:
Dr. David Robinson-Morris - Scholar, Activist, Educator who will guide us through the origins and evolution of Negro History Week, founded by Carter G. Woodson, which is inspiring this effort.
Tyronne Walker, Vice President of Policy, Strategic Partnerships, and Development at the Urban League of Louisiana,, will offer critical insight into how to work with elected officials to get an official resolution passed.
Together, we will engage in a collaborative process to create a resolution that will be submitted to the Orleans Parish School Board. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, drinks, and good vibes to keep the creative juices flowing!
This is more than a workshop — it's a movement. Come ready to connect, build, and take action in support of our children, our schools, and our community.
