Drop by for our first community open house since 2019! The Terrace Guest House is the **nation's first year-round respite & wellness inn** exclusively for special needs parents and other full-time family caregivers!
This 1798 tavern home in the historic district of New Market, MD has been in service to these families since 2018. We have only held one other open house, because we just don't like to take weekends of rest away from these parents!
The purpose of A Mother's Rest is to minimize or eliminate the *financial barrier* to self-care and wellness for these moms (and dads!) Guests pay just $90 for the full three nights away. We rely on private donations and generous community giving to keep the lights on.
This sanctuary is a #homeawayfromhome which provides essential recuperative rest & therapeutic fellowship every weekend, all year long, for individuals providing full-time care for loved ones with disabilities and chronic illness.
House is open to the community free of charge from 10am-4pm on Sunday August 10, 2025 (one day only). Free parking along the street, 6th Alley, and South Alley behind us. Enjoy light snacks and mimosas while you're here, learn more about the history of the house and what a lifeline it has become for nearly (400) caregivers annually. Meet some of our moms, who will be here to share their experiences, and consider financially supporting our inn through our one-time, Monthly Warriors, or Legacy Giving programs!
